Man Pushes Woman off Balcony, Faces Assault Charges

A 31-year-old man faces aggravated assault charges following an incident where a woman of the same age was reportedly pushed from a third-floor balcony on Thursday morning. The man made a court appearance via phone on Friday morning.

Montreal police Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant stated that officers responded to a call at an apartment building on Ste-Catherine Street near Pie-IX Boulevard in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough around 8:15 a.m. ET. An altercation is said to have occurred before the woman was pushed off the balcony.

The woman was discovered unconscious on the ground and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The man was apprehended at the scene, initially facing attempted murder charges which were later revised to aggravated assault charges. Police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
