Anna Bargman scored her first goal in the PWHL, while Kristyna Kaltounkova netted the decisive goal for New York Sirens in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Montreal Victoire in Newark, New Jersey. Bargman’s goal came in the closing moments of the first period, leveling the score after Laura Stacey opened the scoring for Montreal early in the game. The rookie, a fifth-round draft pick for New York from Yale, notched her first PWHL point in the team’s previous match against the Goldeneyes. She holds the fourth spot on the Bulldogs’ all-time goals list.
Kristin O’Neill added her second goal of the season in the second period for New York, but Marie-Philip Poulin responded with a power play goal for Victoire. Kaltounkova extended her scoring streak to four games with a goal to put New York ahead 3-2.
Paetyn Levis extended New York’s lead with a goal assisted by Sarah Fillier in the third period. Montreal pulled their goaltender in the final minutes for an extra skater, leading to a late goal by Natalie Mlynkova off Abby Roque’s shot. However, Montreal could not find an equalizer before time ran out.
Kayle Osborne, the Sirens’ goaltender, made a career-best 42 saves, while Sandra Abstreiter of Montreal finished with 17 saves.
Next up, Victoire will host Minnesota on Sunday, while Sirens will visit Toronto on January 6.
