Marie-Philip Poulin netted her second goal in overtime, propelling the Montreal Victoire to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Frost in a Professional Women’s Hockey League matchup on Sunday. Poulin’s decisive backhand shot eluded goaltender Maddie Rooney, thrilling the capacity crowd of 10,172 at Place Bell. With this goal, she extended her impressive five-game point streak.
In addition to Poulin’s heroics, Abby Roque also found the back of the net for Montreal (3-2-0-4), with Poulin contributing an assist to secure a three-point performance. Goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens made 19 saves to anchor the Victoire’s defense.
For Minnesota (4-1-2-3), Mae Batherson and Kendall Coyne Schofield tallied goals, with Rooney making 35 saves in her second consecutive start. The game was forced into overtime due to two late goals in the third period.
Coyne Schofield’s eighth goal of the season gave the Frost a 2-1 lead with just 1:50 remaining. However, Roque managed to tie the game with 28.7 seconds left in regulation, tipping in Poulin’s pass for her fourth goal of the season. Batherson opened the scoring with a shot from the left circle early in the second period.

The Frost completed a four-game road trip over nine days, winning two games and earning six points. On the other hand, the Victoire snapped a three-game losing streak, climbing from last place in the PWHL standings with Poulin and Roque’s late-game heroics.
A key moment in the game was the flurry of goals by Coyne Schofield and Roque in the final 1:50 of regulation, sending the game into overtime. Noteworthy, Kendall Cooper’s assist on Batherson’s goal set a new PWHL record with a six-game assist streak.
Looking ahead, the Victoire will face the Vancouver Goldeneyes in Quebec City next Sunday, while the Frost will host the Seattle Torrent on the same day.
