Canada will participate in the upcoming SheBelieves Cup alongside the United States, Argentina, and Colombia in March. The Canadian team, ranked 10th globally, will kick off the tournament on March 1 against Colombia, ranked 20th, in Nashville. They will then face the U.S., ranked 2nd, on March 4 in Columbus, and Argentina, ranked 30th, on March 7 in Harrison, N.J. This will mark Canada’s fourth appearance in the tournament, having achieved second place in 2024, fourth in 2023, and third in 2021.
In the previous edition, Japan emerged victorious in 2025, ending the U.S.’s five-year winning streak. The U.S. has clinched the title seven times out of the ten editions held so far, with France and England securing wins in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
Canada’s head coach, Casey Stoney, expressed excitement about the upcoming competition, emphasizing the valuable opportunity to compete against strong teams expected to feature in the 2027 World Cup. Stoney highlighted that the SheBelieves Cup has been a significant challenge for the Canadian team in past years, providing a platform for growth and preparation to reach their desired level of performance.
The Canadian women’s team concluded 2025 with a disappointing five-game losing streak and is currently facing a goal drought that has extended to 454 minutes.
