“Amazon Introduces 3.5% Fuel Surcharge for Sellers”

Amazon has announced that it will introduce a 3.5 per cent fuel surcharge on fulfillment fees for sellers in Canada and the U.S. The surcharge will affect sellers using the Fulfillment by Amazon program starting on April 17. Additionally, sellers utilizing the Multi-Channel Fulfillment program will see the surcharge implemented on May 2. The decision comes as a response to rising fuel and logistics costs across the industry, with Amazon stating that they have absorbed these increases thus far. However, to offset these elevated costs, temporary surcharges will be introduced, aligning with similar actions taken by other major carriers. The e-commerce giant remains dedicated to supporting its selling partners’ success while ensuring a wide selection and competitive prices for customers.

In recent weeks, numerous consumer service providers have adjusted their pricing structures by adding fuel surcharges due to the ongoing global energy crisis triggered by the U.S. and Israel’s actions against Iran. Iran’s response, which included the closure of the crucial Strait of Hormuz – a vital route for a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas supplies – has further exacerbated the situation.
