The Ottawa Senators are addressing false and fabricated rumors circulating online regarding goaltender Linus Ullmark and his current leave of absence. Ullmark, 32, has been on leave since late December for personal reasons, as announced by the team. Despite not disclosing specific details, the Senators expressed full support for the Swedish goalie.
In response to the unfounded online stories, the team released a statement denouncing the rumors and condemning those behind them. General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Steve Staios expressed disappointment over the misinformation being spread on social media and criticized those responsible as “trolls and sick individuals.”
The statement emphasized the organization’s commitment to Ullmark’s privacy and slammed external forces attempting to disrupt the team. The Senators clarified that the statement aimed to put an end to the baseless speculations circulating online.
Additionally, team captain Brady Tkachuk and other players showed their support for Ullmark following the initial announcement. The Senators have not provided a timeline for Ullmark’s return to the team.
