Canadian curling teams heading to the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in February are packed with seasoned athletes, ensuring they won’t be daunted by the Olympic stage. The experience-rich men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles teams have a strong medal-winning history at previous Games. Tyler Tardi, the team alternate, commended their professionalism in all aspects of the game, from preparation to teamwork.

Women’s skip Rachel Homan is set for her third consecutive Olympic appearance, joined by second Emma Miskew. Brett Gallant, part of Brad Jacobs’ team, will also compete in mixed doubles with Jocelyn Peterman. The Canadian representatives, chosen through a rigorous selection process, are anticipated to be strong contenders at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.

Jacobs’ team members Ben Hebert and Marc Kennedy have prior Olympic gold-winning experience, while Jacobs himself clinched gold in 2014. Homan, currently ranked third globally, secured her spot by triumphing over her opponents. The teams are characterized by a sense of calmness and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed, reflecting their dedication to their sport.

Despite Homan’s past Olympic challenges, including missing the podium in 2018, the Canadian teams are determined and well-prepared for the upcoming Winter Games. Peterman and Gallant, undefeated in the mixed doubles trials, exhibit a mastery of the game and strong teamwork. Alongside Canada, countries like Sweden, Switzerland, Britain, Japan, South Korea, and Italy are expected to vie for medals in Cortina.

As the teams gear up for the Olympics, the pressure is high, but so are the dreams of achieving success on the world stage. The competition will kick off with mixed doubles on Feb. 4, leading up to the official opening ceremony and subsequent team events.
