“Fatal Shooting on GO Transit Bus Near Yorkdale Mall”

A fatal shooting occurred on a GO Transit bus near Yorkdale Shopping Mall Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a man, as confirmed by authorities. The incident took place around 7 p.m. at the GO terminal near Yorkdale Road and William R. Allen Road ramp in North York, as reported by the Toronto Police Service (TPS) on social media.

Following the shooting, passengers and GO staff were swiftly evacuated from the bus, according to a statement from Metrolinx media relations. Both police and emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the scene, Metrolinx added.

As a result of the incident, services to Yorkdale GO have been temporarily suspended. Passengers are directed to board at the York Mills terminal until further notice, as per the statement issued.

Detective-Sergeant Jason Davis of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit mentioned during a briefing that a suspect has been apprehended, and a firearm has been confiscated. The TPS homicide unit has since assumed control of the investigation.

Metrolinx advised passengers feeling unsafe on trains or buses to utilize the yellow strip or text “HELP” to 77777 for immediate assistance, as stated in an email on Monday. The agency also highlighted the deployment of special constables and customer protection officers round the clock on trains, stations, and platforms to provide additional support.
