Auschwitz survivor Eva Schloss, known for her advocacy on Holocaust education and being the stepsister of Anne Frank, has passed away at the age of 96 in London, as confirmed by the Anne Frank Trust UK where she served as honorary president.

King Charles expressed his admiration for Schloss, highlighting her dedication to combating prejudice and promoting kindness, courage, and understanding. Schloss, born as Eva Geiringer in Vienna in 1929, fled to Amsterdam with her family during the Nazi annexation of Austria. She befriended Anne Frank, with whom she shared the harrowing experience of hiding from the Nazis in the Netherlands before being discovered, arrested, and sent to Auschwitz.

While at the concentration camp, Schloss and her mother survived, but her father and brother perished. After the war, she resettled in London, married Zvi Schloss, and actively engaged in Holocaust education. Initially hesitant to speak about her traumatic past, she later became a vocal advocate, sharing her story through books and public speaking engagements to educate future generations about the atrocities of the Holocaust.

In her later years, Schloss continued her advocacy work, emphasizing the importance of education in fostering understanding and respect among diverse communities. Her family fondly remembers her as an Auschwitz survivor and a dedicated educator, hoping that her legacy will endure through the resources and materials she has left behind. Eva Schloss is survived by her three daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, following the passing of her husband Zvi Schloss in 2016.
