International music icon Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were seen dining together on Monday night at a prestigious restaurant in Montreal, sparking significant buzz online. The initial report came from TMZ, which shared images and footage of Perry and Trudeau engaged in conversation at a table for two at Le Violon, an upscale dining spot managed by renowned chef Danny Smiles in Montreal’s Plateau district. According to TMZ, the duo also took a stroll in Mount Royal Park earlier in the day.
Perry is set to perform in Ottawa on Tuesday, followed by appearances in Montreal and Quebec City as part of her ongoing Lifetimes Tour. An eyewitness disclosed to TMZ that Perry and Trudeau enjoyed cocktails and shared various dishes, including one featuring lobster.
The reason behind their shared meal remains undisclosed to the public. Samantha Jin, a communications advisor for Le Violon, revealed that Perry and Trudeau spent approximately two hours at the restaurant, displaying kindness and warmth toward the staff. Jin noted that they maintained a low-key demeanor, and neither the staff nor other diners approached them for photos.
Jin mentioned that Chef Smiles greeted the pair at their table and they later visited the kitchen to express gratitude to the entire team before leaving. Le Violon prides itself on offering seafood-centric dishes made with seasonal Quebec produce and is recognized as the 11th best restaurant in Canada according to a recent ranking. Perry recently ended her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, while Trudeau and his former spouse Sophie Grégoire announced their separation in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
