Actor Kiefer Sutherland was taken into custody in the early hours of Monday following an incident involving a ride-hail driver, as confirmed by authorities. The arrest occurred shortly after midnight near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Ave., just south of Hollywood Hills, where the Los Angeles police responded to a reported assault.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 59-year-old Emmy award-winning Canadian actor allegedly assaulted the driver after entering the ride-hail vehicle and also made criminal threats towards the victim. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries requiring medical attention at the time of the incident.

Law enforcement officials arrested Sutherland on suspicion of criminal threats. He was subsequently released from jail after posting a $50,000 US bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2, as per jail records. A request for comment from Sutherland’s representatives remains unanswered.
