“Rare Steven Tyler Autograph Uncovered in Halifax Venue”

Maintenance staff at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax stumbled upon a remarkable discovery during the holiday season. While working on a freight elevator, they uncovered an autograph belonging to Steven Tyler, the lead vocalist of the renowned rock band Aerosmith. The signature was found on a bumper inside the elevator, which serves as a protective panel for the walls.

Aerosmith, known for hits like “Love in an Elevator” and “Sweet Emotion,” performed multiple shows at the Halifax rink, with their last concert dating back to December 28, 1993. Adria Young, a representative from Events East, the organization overseeing the Scotiabank Centre and Halifax Convention Centre, expressed excitement about having a piece of rock history within their facility.

The signature, a relic from a time when performers and bands would utilize the freight elevator, was preserved amidst a collection of signatures left by various individuals over the years. Notable names like Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses and Bryan Adams were recalled by long-serving staff members. The elevator walls, once adorned with signatures, were eventually painted over in the late 1990s, with Tyler’s autograph being one of the few remnants left intact.

The recent discovery of the Steven Tyler signature, which had not been seen for approximately two decades, sparked intrigue among those at the Scotiabank Centre. Despite the eagerness to showcase the autograph, it is now shielded by a protective panel following the completion of maintenance work.

In addition to the Aerosmith find, past events at the Scotiabank Centre were recalled, including a 1993 concert where counterfeit band T-shirts were being sold. The incident led to fines for individuals caught violating copyright laws. This discovery serves as a nostalgic reminder of the venue’s rich history in hosting sports and entertainment for nearly five decades, with hopes of uncovering more hidden treasures from artists and athletes who have graced the facility over the years.
