The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its recall of pistachios due to potential salmonella contamination, now including various Peace by Chocolate and NuttyHero products. The recent recall announcement encompasses Peace by Chocolate bars and assorted chocolates distributed nationwide, either individually or as part of a mixed pack. Affected products such as Dubai Style Chocolate Pistachio and Kunafa Bar, The Peace Maker Specialty Bars, and assorted filled chocolates like Trans Canada Trail — Peace Seeker, the Classic Box, and the Proudly Canadian box are included. Some Peace by Chocolate items were custom labeled for entities like TD, Dexterra, First Onsite Property Restoration, and Tri-County Regional Centre for Education.
NuttyHero nut and seed butters in maple cinnamon, coconut crunch, and chocolate bliss flavors were also added to the recall list by the food inspection agency. Numerous pistachios and pistachio-related items have been recalled in Canada recently. Consumers in possession of recalled products should discard them and seek medical attention if they experience any symptoms. Salmonella-contaminated food may not exhibit visible signs of spoilage but can cause illness. Symptoms may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Vulnerable populations such as young children, pregnant women, seniors, and individuals with compromised immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness.
