Singer D4vd is currently under investigation by a Los Angeles County grand jury regarding the death of a 14-year-old girl. The girl’s body was discovered in a Tesla car registered to the singer, which had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills. Court documents revealed that prosecutors have identified the 20-year-old alt-pop artist, born in Houston as David Burke, as the subject of the investigation, with his family members being called to testify.
The grand jury subpoenas were issued on January 15, and although the investigation was initially kept confidential in California, the documents were made public due to an appeal in Texas by the singer’s relatives. According to the records, the individual under investigation could potentially face charges for murder under California law.
The Tesla in question was registered in D4vd’s name at the location of his family members, as indicated in court filings. While authorities have not officially named the singer as a suspect, the deceased body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in the vehicle a day after what would have been her 15th birthday. She was reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore when she was 13 years old, with official records stating she was 14 at the time of her death.
Upon inspecting the Tesla Model Y in a tow yard, investigators discovered a cadaver bag emitting a strong odor of decay and infested with insects. The bag contained the decomposed head and torso of the victim. Additionally, the body parts had been severed and placed in another bag within the vehicle.
Although representatives for D4vd have not responded to requests for comments, the singer’s shows were canceled following the revelation of his connection to the case. Despite the ongoing investigation, no cause of death has been disclosed by the authorities. D4vd, known for his music blending indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop, faced widespread attention after his song “Romantic Homicide” went viral on TikTok in 2022. His music career flourished with the release of several EPs and albums, but recent events have led to the cancellation of his tours and performances.
