Kristýna Kaltounková opened the scoring early in the game, followed by Savannah Norcross securing an additional goal, while goaltender Kayle Osborne achieved a shutout, leading the New York Sirens to a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Goldeneyes on Wednesday.

In the first period, Kaltounková, who has now scored in three consecutive matches and four times this season, found the back of the net just 1:21 into the game, providing New York (4-0-0-5) with the initial lead. Assisted by rookie Anna Bargman, Kaltounková, the first draft pick this year from Colgate University and the Czech Republic, beat goalie Emerance Maschmeyer to the glove side.

Later in the third period, Norcross, a second-year forward, notched her first career goal at 4:39, extending New York’s lead to 2-0. Emmy Fecteau and Kayla Vespa both secured their first assists of the season on this play.

In the goal, Osborne, who has started in every game this season, made 27 saves for the Sirens, resulting in her second shutout of the season and her first since the 4-0 victory over Ottawa in the season opener.

Last season, as a rookie, Osborne recorded one shutout against Ottawa in eight starts and 10 appearances. Maschmeyer, on the other hand, made 24 saves for the Goldeneyes (2-1-1-5), who are yet to secure a win on the road this season.

While New York failed to convert on all five power-play opportunities, Vancouver also struggled, going 0 for 4 and missing out on their last eight chances with an extra skater.
