Knife-wielding man arrested in Yellowknife downtown incident

A man in Yellowknife has been apprehended by the RCMP following an incident where he menaced a security guard with a knife in the downtown area on Thursday. The authorities were alerted at approximately midday regarding an assault involving a knife at a residential complex. Fortunately, the security guard emerged from the encounter unharmed. Despite being uncooperative initially, the individual was eventually apprehended with the assistance of a police canine. He now faces charges of assault with a weapon and non-compliance with a probation directive and is presently detained.
