Pop singer Chappell Roan announced on Monday that she has severed ties with the talent agency headed by Casey Wasserman, the chief of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, who recently faced backlash over past email exchanges with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. Wasserman has publicly expressed regret over his communication with Maxwell following the disclosure of personal emails between them.

Newly released files from the U.S. Justice Department concerning the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell’s former partner, revealed flirtatious email exchanges between Wasserman, who was married at the time, and Maxwell dating back to 2003. Roan took to Instagram to declare her departure from Wasserman’s agency, emphasizing the importance of artists being represented by those who uphold their values and ensure their well-being.

Wasserman, a prominent figure in the sports and entertainment industry, has denied any personal or professional association with Epstein. While acknowledging his prior connection to Maxwell, he clarified that it predated the public knowledge of her and Epstein’s criminal activities.

Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for various charges including sex trafficking of minors, was arrested in 2020 for her alleged involvement in facilitating sexual encounters between girls and Epstein from 1994 to 2004. The extensive release of internal documents by the U.S. Justice Department has shed light on Epstein’s connections with influential individuals, before and after his conviction in 2008 for soliciting an underage girl, leading up to his death in 2019 while in custody.
