Sarah McLachlan, roots artist Allison Russell, and emerging country singer Cameron Whitcomb are set to grace the stage at the 55th Juno Awards in Hamilton on March 29. McLachlan and Russell will team up for a special performance honoring the legendary Joni Mitchell, who is being presented with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to music globally, as stated by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Joni Mitchell, a five-time Juno recipient, notably won the award for best vocal jazz album for her 2001 release, “Both Sides Now.” Both McLachlan and Russell have been part of the “Joni Jam” live band, assembled by Brandi Carlile to support Mitchell after her 2015 health scare. Russell showcased her talent by performing “Both Sides, Now” at the 2025 SOCAN Awards, where Mitchell was honored with the Global Impact Award. McLachlan often pays homage to Mitchell by covering her songs during her live performances, including “River,” which she included in her 2006 album, “Wintersong.”

Making his Junos debut this year is Cameron Whitcomb from Nanaimo, B.C., with five nominations and a performance lined up to present songs from his nominated album, “The Hard Way.” Whitcomb rose to fame after his appearance on “American Idol” in 2022, resonating with fans through his candid and authentic take on country music, inspired by personal experiences with addiction and recovery.

In addition to McLachlan, Russell, and Whitcomb, the Juno Awards will feature performances from the Beaches, Arkells, William Prince, and Daniel Caesar. The Juno Week Kickoff concert on March 26 will include acts like James Barker Band, Robyn Ottolini, Sacha, Kalsey Kulyk, and the Redhill Valleys. Junofest, a two-night concert series by CBC on March 27 and 28 in various Hamilton venues, will showcase nearly 70 artists, including Great Lake Swimmers, Katie Tupper, Sebastian Gaskin, and Terra Lightfoot.

Furthermore, a special ceremony on March 28 will honor Indigenous voices in music, with performances from Little Creek Singers, Siibii, and YB Nakota. The Juno Awards celebration promises a stellar lineup and a diverse array of musical talent for attendees and viewers alike.
