Hyundai Issues Caution for 2026 Palisade Seatbelt Wiring

Hyundai has issued a caution concerning the seatbelt system in specific 2026 Palisade models. According to a notice on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, there is a potential issue with the wiring in the seatbelt of the third-row, left-hand side seat that may become damaged when pulled. This wiring problem can lead to the seatbelt indicator falsely signaling that the seatbelt is fastened when it is not, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Around 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt issue. Hyundai has stated that it will inform affected drivers through written communication and recommend that they visit a dealership to have the seatbelt wiring repaired. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by calling 1-888-216-2626.

Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted sales of certain new Palisade models due to a separate issue. This problem caused some second and third-row power seats to continue moving even when they made contact with a passenger or object, leading to a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
