Three individuals who accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have reached settlements in their civil cases before the trial at the High Court in London, according to court records. The accusers claimed that the Academy Award-winning actor had mistreated them between 2000 and 2013. Kevin Spacey has consistently denied the allegations.
The civil trials, scheduled to commence later this year, were halted by Judge Christina Lambert, who stated that the parties had come to an agreement on the settlement terms. The judge’s order mandated a stay on all further legal proceedings against Spacey as outlined in the confidential schedule, without disclosing the specific terms or addressing costs.
The public release of the order, dated Friday, occurred on Wednesday. Spacey’s representatives have been contacted for comment. In 2023, Kevin Spacey, now 66, stood trial in London on nine alleged sexual offenses against four men and was cleared of all charges.
During Spacey’s criminal trial, two of the civil claimants, whose identities remain protected by legal orders, provided testimony. Additionally, Spacey successfully defended himself in a $40 million US civil lawsuit in New York in 2022 initiated by actor Anthony Rapp from “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Once regarded as one of the most esteemed actors of his time, Spacey’s career suffered a setback due to the sexual abuse allegations. Notable for his roles in films such as “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “L.A. Confidential,” as well as the TV series “House of Cards,” Spacey earned accolades including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film “The Usual Suspects” and a Best Actor Oscar for “American Beauty” in 1999.
Moreover, Spacey served as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015. Despite mentioning finding employment in recent years, his roles have primarily been in smaller productions rather than the prominent Hollywood projects he was associated with prior to the misconduct allegations surfacing.
