“Canadian Duo Dominates in United Cup Tennis Event”

Victoria Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime have continued their strong form at the start of the 2026 tennis season. The Canadian duo led their team to a 3-0 victory over China in the United Cup mixed teams event, with Mboko and Auger-Aliassime both showcasing impressive performances.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No. 5 in the men’s singles, defeated Zhang Zhizhen with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Mboko, ranked 18th in the women’s singles, staged a comeback after losing the first set to beat Lin Zhu 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. The pair then joined forces in the mixed doubles match, securing a 6-1, 6-3 win over Xiaodi You and Rigele Te.

Having had a successful previous season, Auger-Aliassime reached the semifinals at the U.S. Open, claimed an ATP 250 title at the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open, and advanced to the semifinals of the ATP Finals. Mboko, on the other hand, made significant strides in her career, climbing from outside the top 300 to break into the top 20. She clinched the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal and closed out 2025 on a high note by winning the Hong Kong Open title.

Looking ahead, Canada is set to face Belgium in their upcoming group match in the United Cup, with the tournament scheduled to conclude on January 11. Both Mboko and Auger-Aliassime expressed satisfaction with their performances and are geared up for the challenges ahead in the season.
