Tegan Quin, known for her role in the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed as a writer to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” scheduled for release on May 27. This comic showcases the beloved gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connection during challenging periods.
In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, the story revolves around the twins Wiccan and Speed uniting to combat Ultron while navigating their separate paths as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for Marvel, citing a personal connection as a twin. She likened defeating Ultron in the story to a cathartic experience, drawing parallels to challenging encounters in the music industry.
“Wiccan & Hulking” will also feature contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is additionally endorsing Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an annual event where five Canadian celebrities select a book for national reading, engaging in debates and eliminations over four days until a winner is determined. This year’s edition is set for April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have released ten studio albums, including popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their musical success has garnered numerous awards and nominations, such as Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and considerations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins expanded their creative endeavors from music to literature with their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel series “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Furthermore, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources to 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
