“41-Year-Old Arrested on Firearms Charges in St. John’s”

Police in St. John’s apprehended a 41-year-old man on charges related to firearms following an incident in the city’s west end. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary disclosed that on New Year’s Day at approximately 10 a.m. NT, law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Barachois Street in response to a report of firearms-related activity.

Upon arrival, the officers secured the property and conducted a thorough search with the support of the Tactics and Rescue Unit and the RCMP. The male resident was taken into custody without any resistance. The ongoing investigation is being assisted by the Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Services.

During the execution of a search warrant at the premises, law enforcement uncovered a firearm, brass knuckles, a stun gun, and soft body armor, which were confiscated as part of the inquiry. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The arrested individual is facing a court appearance on multiple charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and trafficking in weapons.
